Cover Awe: So Many Colors!

Welcome back to Cover Awe!

The Princess of Thornwood Drive by Khalia Moreau/ A woman facing away with her face in profile. She has tan skin and is wearing a baby blue dress. Her hair is short, like a pixie cut, dark, and curly. She has on dangly earrings and blue eyeshadow. The background is a mix of tropical plants and flowers that look like watercolor.

Cover art and design by Daniela Medina

Amanda: This came out last year and I literally heard nothing about it!

Sarah: I saw this and said to myself, “Shana will want her earrings.”

Sneezy: Ugh THE COLOURS! I aspire to this level of sophistication in colour theory

There are SO MANY bold elements in colours and shapes, and it all comes together so harmoniously!

Also what eyeshadow is she wearing?

Shana: I am having serious earring envy.

Sarah: The part where the dangle is from the back? SO cool.

Maya's Laws of Love by Alina Khawaja. A man and woman stand under a clear umbrella, gazing at each other, while it rains. He has dark hair and some stubble, with a white shirt and khaki jacket. She has tan skin and dark brown, chest-length hair. She has on a warm yellow, long-sleeve dress and is holding a tan briefcase.

Cover art by Carina Guevara

Sarah: This is very cute.

Amanda: I love an illustrated cover where the people are interacting, rather than just being posed in the same space.

Lara: That green is really working for me.

Sneezy: Awww I want to be under an umbrella like this with my crush too!

A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene. The background is a dark green forest with ivy. A pale woman's face is in profile. A black swan's face and neck line up with the profile, along with a golden feather. Along the left edge is a silver sword,

Cover design by Lisa Marie Pompilio

Amanda: I love the colors here. It also gives me the vibe of those optical illusions: “Do you see an old lady or a fancy duck?”

Sarah: That made me snort laugh. “Beautiful lady or swan about to fuck your shit up?”

Lara: Oh, I love this cover. I like the subtle stripes in the green half

Sneezy: I love ALL THINGS this artist is doing to give off fantasy vibes.

The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer. A bookshelf with colorful books. In between the space of books leaning or open games is the image of a purple, night sky and a crescent moon. There's a small green island with a lighthouse and large manor.

Cover illustration by Holly Ovenden

Sarah: This cover is really charming.

Amanda: This design definitely speaks to the reading community – nailed it!

Lara: I want to bathe in that cover.

Sneezy: This is just so charming and lovely!
