I was alone for a whole day yesterday and decided I’d spend an “unwind/do nothing physically or mentally strenuous day“, watching all the movies I knew my husband wouldn’t want to watch. 😂
So… I indulged BIG TIME! I watched 4 horror/thrillers (The Wailing (meh…), Anabelle – the first one and it was a rewatch from but I didn’t remember barely any of it so it was fresh again and scary!!, Caliber<— excellent thriller 4 stars easy!! and “The Endless“<— sci-fi thriller about a cult – also an excellent 4 stars) and three romance-ish (and I say that tentatively because they were more love stories that go wrong or just…you know. Lots of growth and discovery).
But the one that struck me the most was —> I Love You Forever <— which I will never forget. It started like a fun romcom and I was so invested and excited about her new sweet intense romance, but it devolved into a dark and scary romance. This is “dark romance” of a different kind. I even had to turn it off at the first “fit” he had. I was shocked!!!
I didn’t love it and I DID love it. It was triggering, SO REAL (I’ve been there before) was VERY hard for me to watch. I had to stop it a few times to recenter myself that I was NOT her, and that was not me (and HOLY MOLY am I sooooooo incredibly happy to have been blessed with my wonderful husband).
Anyway, all that to say… I was so moved by that movie, and the ENDING blew me away, that I immediately jumped online and searched everything I could on it. Like that CRAZY ending. I had to know if anyone else felt like me. If anyone was questioning that ending like I was. I didn’t see that coming.
And my research sure provided insight!! I GASPED when I saw who wrote the screenplay. CAZZIE DAVID!! She’s the infamous ex-girlfriend of Pete Davidson. You know. The one he broke up with over a text and immediately moved on to Ariana Grande. Well anyway, she also wrote the book “No One Asked For This” that likely actually inspired this intense movie. WHAT A REVEAL with its own personal real-life twist.
So… without even thinking about it further, I one-clicked it and immediately started reading.
So if you’re in the mood for a disastrous love story… WATCH IT! And read it? I dunno, I’m just 25% in and learning all about the author as a person, and I’m loving it (and strangely… relating yet again to so much that makes her… her!)
AN ANTI-ROMANCE LOVE STORY!!
I Love You Forever
AN ANTI-ROMANCE LOVE STORY!! SO GOOD & SO TRIGGERING TO MANY!!
Been there, done that and never want to do that again. But boy, watching this was not only eye-opening, it made me FEEL!!
“A disillusioned law student begins to believe in love when she meets a handsome and charming journalist who isn’t afraid to show affection…until his dark side begins to emerge.”
FUN FACT: The screenplay was written by the same author of “No One Asked For This” and it is rumored that the book was likely the inspiration for this intense movie!

A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER. From writer/director Cazzie David comes a series of acerbic, darkly funny essays about anxiety, social media, misanthropy, and growing up in a wildly eccentric family.
“…In No One Asked for This, David provides readers with a singular but ultimately relatable tour through her mind, as she explores existential anxiety, family dynamics, and the utterly modern dilemma of having your breakup displayed on the Internet.
With pitch-black humor resonant of her father, comedy legend Larry David, and topics that speak uniquely to generational malaise, No One Asked for This is the perfect companion for when you don’t really want a companion…”
