The book is about a young girl who is abused by her father. Her aunt comes to get her and her father thinks she colluded with her aunt and beats the living crap out of her. The father is into very shady business but well known she doesn’t report him as he has the police working for him, which she learned about when she called them the first time. Her aunt finds out that her niece has been beaten and can’t do anything to stop him as her father is very powerful.
Her father allows her aunt to take her away until she graduates high school.
She moves her niece away and when she starts her new high school this girl tries to bully her and she doesn’t respond as her father was a big bully. The girl starts a rumor that she is mute and the girl just lets it be as she doesn’t want to talk. A popular guy in her class figures out she is lying and blackmails her otherwise he will reveal her secret. He asks her a question if she doesn’t answer he asks her to do something sexual like bare her chest to him or give him a blow job.
He later learns to care for and comes from a big family. His parents and brothers realize this girl has experienced some serious trauma and want to help her. This boy comes from a powerful family and wants to protect her. He gets his female cousin who moved in with them to befriend her. But he doesn’t tell her she can talk as that’s her secret. When his cousin finds out she feels betrayed.

I think the girl is kidnapped by her father or someone he sold her to when she turns 18. The guy who is into her asks his uncle (who does stuff that isn’t completely legal but isn’t as shady as the girls’s father) to help him find her. They do and bring her back. Her aunt and the boy’s mom don’t want them to date as they both think she needs time to heal from all her trauma. T
hey love each other and can’t stay away. Their sex life is D/s.
