Robert needs our book help!! And here’s a confession from me, I’m really bad at acronyms, so I had to look up: “IIRC”, which is used below in his question 😂 🤷♀️
All I was seeing was “IRC” (back in my olden days that stood for “Internet Relay Chat”) so I was assuming it was an computer/internet term, but it didn’t make sense in this question. So I looked it up and it’s so obvious to me now (“if I remember correctly”). 😯
Okay so here goes…
He asks:
Hi Maryse–I hope this message finds you well.
There’s a book that I hope you can help me to find. I read it in the early 2000s.
IIRC, the title was short, containing a derivative of the word ‘kidnap/hijack/abduct’.
IIRC, the premise is that a plane crashed/was hijacked and ended up on a Pacific island. The passengers included adults/were not just kids.
IIRC, someone had a shortwave radio and used it to get news/seek help. [Possible spoiler.] A rescue did come, which involved wading through water and evading a searchlight.
Also, IIRC, there was a conversation between characters/discussion by the author re: Japan: its criminal underworld/the abduction of some of its citizens by North Korea.
Thanks,
R.
OMG totally my thing!!! I LOVE plane crash and survival books so I’m very curious about this one.
Anyone have a guess?
