She asks:

I am trying to find the name of a book I read some while back.

Heroine’s mother is in an elder care unit and heroine’s dad has remarried h’s step mom and dad basically threaten to stop paying for h’s mother care, if h does not give in the their demands.

H tries to help out and comes to know that the mother has already passed away but h does not know as evil step mom has not disclosed this info to h.
