Emy is looking for this one! Oh I love a good Cinderella story, and I’m so curious about where Emy leaves off her description, ’cause it sounds infuriating!!

She asks:

Hi Maryse.

I am hoping you can help me find this book.

This girl is invited by a friend, after losing her job (?), they are at a fancy place/hotel. She leaves the space and the other girls to speak badly of her, as if she is a golddigger or low class. This exchange is overheard by the hero. Later, there is a fancy event. The girl from earlier, who was being talked about, approaches him, and he sort of thinks she is soliciting him, or something like that? It seems he is attracted to her nonetheless,

Later in the night, she leaves the room or something and he tries to warn her, but she walks down the dark staircase and the railing breaks. She falls aways down. He stays outside and they sort of get to know each other. She had hurt her leg or something and they had to wait for emergency services. She talks about her job, her boss, that she lost the job? He is affluent and his family is in Houston but he had been in Italy for the last while.

Anyway, they start a relationship despite the fact that she moves back home. He visits and meets her mother. One time she goes to visit him in the city, there is a rainstorm. She calls him because her friend’s family is in need of rescue and well, he has the money to get the resources. Then the rescued people come to his family home and his aunt or stepmom id horrible to them, she (heroine) leaves with them.

I’ll leave it at that.
